An animal adult, whether human or non-human, is one who has grown to the fullest extent. Adults are a social concept as well as a legal concept in our world. Contrary to those who are not considered an adult or "minor" legally adult has attained majority, that makes them independent competent, responsible, and capable. The term "major" may be applied to the person. The general consensus is that the age at which a person becomes a legal adult is 18. But, it can vary depending on legal rights and countries and also on the psychological state.

Human development is the time that is when mental and physical maturity is attained. The term "adulthood" is generally believed to start around age 20 or 21. It is around 60 years after middle years. The beginning of adulthood occurs between the ages of 18 and 30. Mid-life adulthood begins around the mid-30s through to 60s. Late adulthood starts at the mid-60s. At the beginning stages of adulthood (between 20 and 40), our bodies have reached full maturation, even though our height and weight might increase a bit. When we reach early adulthood, our physical abilities are at their maximum. These include muscle strength and speed of reaction.
